He suggested Norwegian businesses invest in transport, shipbuilding, fuel gas, renewable energy and aquaculture.

The two sides expressed joy at the development of bilateral relations in the recent past, including a two-way trade of more than 500 million USD in 2020.

They acknowledged the two countries’ bilateral coordination at the UN Security Council, attributing it to their support for multilateralism and international law as well as shared priorities such as women issues, peace, security, climate change, mine aftermath settlement and protection of civilians.

FM Son thanked Norway for its support during the month Viet Nam served as President of the UNSD last April and noted his hope for continued coordination.

The two FMs discussed regional issues on the UNSC’s agenda, sharing concerns over the humanitarian situation in Syria, and the need to continue humanitarian support for the Syrian people.

Son informed the Norwegian minister about ASEAN’s efforts to help with the stabilization of the situation in Myanmar. Minister Soreide affirmed her support for ASEAN’s role and urged ASEAN to early implement the five-point consensus.

The Vietnamese FM invited his Norwegian counterpart to visit Viet Nam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam-Norway diplomatic relations. Minister Soreide accepted the invitation with pleasure.
