Proud development
Vietnam and the US officially normalised relations in 1995. Shortly after, Ford Motor established a presence in Vietnam. With the consent of the Vietnamese Government and Hai Duong province (now Hai Phong city), in 1995, a Ford Vietnam joint venture laid the foundation for constructing an automobile factory in Hai Duong. After 2 years, the Ford automobile factory commenced operations in the fourth quarter of 1997, with a designed capacity of 14,000 vehicles/year.
Ford Vietnam’s vision and development orientation are based on four core strategies: creating products with the highest quality standards; being environmentally friendly; having advanced safety systems; and using innovative technology.
With this strategy, Ford is growing stronger and stronger. The Ford factory in Hai Duong has continuously updated its production line, launching many famous product lines, leading in modern technology and safety, such as: Laser, Mondeo, Transit, Escape, Everest, Ranger, Fiesta, Focus, etc.
In 2020, Ford Vietnam invested 82 million USD to expand production, increasing the total investment capital to over 200 million USD, bringing the capacity to 40,000 vehicles/year, with more than 1,200 direct jobs. This is one of Ford Motor’s key factories in the Asia-Pacific region. “The factory has been upgraded, allowing for the production and assembly of modern car lines, typically the new generation Ranger and Territory, and is now ready for future product lines,” said Mr. Ruchik Shah, General Director of Ford Vietnam.
Ford Vietnam has introduced many product lines suitable for various uses, from passenger cars to SUVs, pick-up trucks, and commercial vehicles. Global products are continuously introduced by Ford in Vietnam and are trusted by customers. The proof is that 3 out of 5 Ford product lines lead their respective segments, including Ranger, Everest and Transit. In particular, the Ranger pick-up truck has held the top position in the Vietnamese automobile market for many years. Although newly launched, other product lines, such as Territory, have quickly entered the top 10 best-selling car lines in Vietnam.
Along with the top priority of improving quality, Ford Vietnam continuously upgrades its dealer system to meet growing customer demands. With 56 dealers and branches nationwide, the system is creating nearly 6,000 jobs. A series of new service initiatives has also been actively implemented in recent years, such as online service booking, car pick-up and delivery, FordPass, and 4-hour or free mobile service, which have been well received and highly appreciated by customers.

US-Vietnam cooperation achievements
Ford Vietnam is an enterprise that actively contributes to both state and local budgets.
2024 marked a new sales record for Ford Vietnam with 42,175 vehicles sold, an increase of 10% compared to 2023, accounting for 10% of the Vietnamese automobile market share. In the first six months of 2025, Ford achieved sales of 21,700 vehicles, marking a 23% increase over the same period in 2024.
Over the past 30 years, Ford Vietnam has actively contributed to social responsibility activities. Through the “Driving Skills for Life – DSFL” program, Ford has trained more than 18,000 drivers nationwide, attracting over 2 million views of online videos and raising awareness and safe driving skills in Vietnam.
Ford also actively supports sustainable education by donating engines, transmissions, and professional documents to training centers and universities nationwide, aiming to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the automotive engineering industry.

In addition, Ford has effectively implemented many emergency relief activities during natural disasters such as storms and floods, demonstrating its community responsibility over the years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ford and its car owners implemented emergency support activities, including coordinating with the Ministry of Health to donate ambulances for epidemic prevention and control.
Mr. Marc E. Knapper, US Ambassador to Vietnam, stated that 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of US-Vietnam relations and also the 30th anniversary of Ford Motor’s presence in Vietnam. “At this critical time, I had the opportunity to visit Ford Vietnam Co., Ltd. and see firsthand its proud development. Ford Motor invested in Hai Duong 30 years ago, starting on a small scale, but has now developed into a large company, a leading automobile manufacturer in Vietnam. Over the past 30 years, Ford has worked to train its workforce, develop and create high-quality products, and significantly contribute to the socio-economy.”
“The positive results that Ford Vietnam has achieved are typical evidence of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that is on the rise. I expect Ford Vietnam to continue to develop and succeed; I believe Ford is a responsible enterprise, making positive contributions to the local economy and society,” added Mr. Marc E. Knapper.
