Also attending the meeting were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Do Hung Viet and Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan.
During the meeting, Party Secretary Thang expressed his pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Marc E. Knapper to Hai Duong. He emphasized that in the increasingly strong relationship between Vietnam and the United States, following 30 years of diplomatic relations, Hai Duong has been one among provinces attracted interest from U.S. investors.
Currently, Hai Duong hosts 11 projects by U.S. investors, with a total disbursed investment of $270 million. While the number of U.S. investors in the province remains modest, these businesses have successfully implemented their strategies and business plans while demonstrating a strong commitment to legal compliance and community activities. Ford Vietnam stands out as a key enterprise in the province, contributing an average of VND 5,000 billion annually to the state budget.

Hai Duong enjoys a favorable geographical location. In recent years, the provincial government has actively promoted administrative reforms, creating optimal conditions for businesses. The province has worked closely with enterprises, listening to their concerns and promptly addressing any challenges that arise. This support extends to the business community at large, including FDI enterprises such as Ford Vietnam and other U.S.-invested companies, enabling them to grow sustainably.
Hai Duong offers all essential conditions for investment, including readily available land, well-connected transportation infrastructure, a skilled workforce, stable electricity and water supply, and a secure business environment. The province warmly welcomes investors, particularly U.S. enterprises, to explore opportunities, especially those involved in high-tech industries.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-U.S. diplomatic relations and nearly two years since the elevation of ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, Hai Duong Party Secretary Thang expressed his hope that U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper will continue to strengthen bilateral relations and take a greater interest in Hai Duong.
On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Thang extended an official invitation to U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper to visit and work in Hai Duong in the near future.

Ambassador Marc E. Knapper expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from Secretary Tran Duc Thang and gladly accepted the invitation. He was pleased with the positive contributions of U.S. businesses, particularly Ford Vietnam, to Hai Duong’s economic and social development. He affirmed his commitment to further strengthening Vietnam-U.S. relations and continuing to support Hai Duong both now and in the future.

Ambassador Knapper also pledged to encourage more U.S. businesses to explore investment opportunities in Hai Duong. He noted that U.S. enterprises are particularly interested in localities with strong investment ecosystems, including favorable investment policies, a skilled and abundant workforce, and well-developed infrastructure.

Prior to his courtesy meeting with the U.S. Ambassador, Secretary Tran Duc Thang also met with Ms. Simonetta Verdi, Senior Director of Government Relations for Ford Motor Company’s International Markets Group, along with a delegation from Ford Vietnam.

Earlier that morning, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper visited the Ford Hai Duong plant for a working session with the leadership of Ford Vietnam. Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, Tran Van Quan, was also in attendance.
