Fascinating night of folk and contemporary music marks Indian Independence Day in Hanoi: Folk Fusion Music performance by Tetseo Sisters in Vietnam took place with the support of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, from August 10-16, 2023. (Photo: WVR/Minh Hoa) |
Attending the event were Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Phuong Hoa and a number of Ambassadors and officials from foreign Embassies in Vietnam.
The concert performed by Tetseo Sisters, one of the top and most popular bands in India.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Sandeep Arya emphasized that India and Vietnam maintained a warm and close relationship. The Tetseo Sisters' performance was not only held in Hanoi, but also in four other provinces of Vietnam, contributing to increasing mutual understanding and strengthening the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership.

Director General Hoa said that after the year 2022, the year of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties, the friendship between the two countries has been further strengthened. The Director General emphasized that Tetseo Sisters' musical performance is a beautiful conclusion to the series of cultural and artistic activities to celebrate India's Independence Day in Vietnam. The program helps a large number of Vietnamese people to experience the rich diversity of Indian culture.

Coming from Kohima City, Nagaland State, members of the band Tetseo Sisters promote the almost forgotten musical form of the Chakhesang Naga tribe. The band members all come from the same family and this kind of music is passed down from parents to children.
Throughout the performance, artists of the band Tetseo Sisters sang, danced, accompanied and narrated musical stories, carrying the audience from one song to another. The songs have been conveyed to the audience in the most native form, harmoniously accompanied with the sound of contemporary music.
During their stay in Vietnam, Indian folk fusion music performance took place in Hai Duong, Lao Cai and Bac Ninh provinces, bringing the diverse, unique and distinctive culture of India closer to the Vietnamese public audience.
