Works by 15 pairs of Vietnamese and Russian teachers and students from different generations were displayed at the Russian Academy of Arts, in a space filled with artistic spirit.

Speaking at the event, Madame Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her deep emotions upon viewing the artworks created by generations of Vietnamese and Russian artists.
The exhibition is not only a gathering of creative minds but also a vivid testament to the close bonds uniting generations of Vietnamese and Russian art communities. It carries even greater significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia.

For her personally, Madame Ngo Phuong Ly shared that the exhibition holds special meaning as it features works by her late father, People’s Artist Ngo Manh Lan, and his mentor, Professor Ivan Petrovich Ivanov-Vano, who guided him during his studies at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in the 1960s.

The spouse of the General Secretary highlighted that the teacher-student relationship is a profound cultural value in both Vietnamese and Russian traditions. She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia for training and nurturing many Vietnamese talents, including in the arts.

Madame Ngo Phuong Ly believed that through activities like the July 23 exhibition, cultural and artistic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia will continue to flourish, enriching the longstanding traditional friendship between the two nations.

At the exhibition, Madame Ngo Phuong Ly also presented the painting Winter Sunlight by Vu Thai Binh to the Russian Academy of Arts and witnessed the conferral of honourary foreign membership of the Academy to sculptor Dao Chau Hai.

In recognition of her contributions to cultural cooperation and artistic exchange between the two countries, the leadership of the Russian Academy of Arts awarded Madame Ngo Phuong Ly the Gold Medal of Honour “Dostoinomu.”
Feeling both honoured and moved, Madame Ngo Phuong Ly remarked: “For me, art knows no borders. Music, painting or literature all contribute to building bridges of peace and connecting the souls of nations. I am honoured to share this recognition with everyone who is working to foster the friendship between Vietnam and Russia”.
