Enhancing Vietnam-Bangladesh relations: More substantive and effective

WVR - On the evening of March 26, in Hanoi, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Vietnam solemnly celebrated the 55th Anniversary of Independence and National Day (March 26, 1971 - March 26, 2026). Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The event was attended by Nguyen Ngoc Ky, Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, along with Ambassadors, Chargés d'affaires, and Heads of international organizations in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam Md. Lutfor Rahman highly appreciated the traditional friendship with Vietnam, built on the values of peace, independence, and development. He emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh and the people of Vietnam hold a special place in the hearts of the Bangladeshi people.

The Ambassador noted that from a nation facing numerous challenges post-1971 war, Bangladesh has made significant socio-economic progress, maintaining GDP growth above 6% for over two decades, aiming to become a high middle-income country by 2035.

Expressing gratitude to the Vietnamese Government for implementing practical measures to enhance economic cooperation, Ambassador Md. Lutfor Rahman appreciated the support provided to the Bangladeshi community living and working in Vietnam.

In the future, Bangladesh hopes to continue closely collaborating with Vietnam to deepen the friendship, expand cooperation in political, diplomatic, cultural, and educational fields, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges, aiming for sustainable development and shared prosperity.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that Vietnam values its traditional friendship with Bangladesh, based on trust and understanding.

The Deputy Minister stated that Bangladesh is one of Vietnam's most important trade partners in South Asia, with a trade turnover of nearly 1.5 billion USD, highlighting significant cooperation potential in areas such as digital transformation, green growth, and renewable energy.

"We firmly believe that, with the solid foundation built by generations of leaders and people of both countries, Vietnam-Bangladesh relations will continue to flourish in a more substantive and effective manner," the Deputy Minister emphasized.

The 55th National Day celebration of Bangladesh in Hanoi not only honors the development achievements of the South Asian country but also showcases the enduring friendship, aiming for peace and sustainable development for both nations.
