Born in a land with a revolutionary tradition, Phan Huy Thiep joined the uprising movement early and enlisted in the army. With a passion for learning and determination, he self-studied while striving to acquire knowledge through formal education.
He had the honour of serving as a Korean language interpreter for President Ho Chi Minh. He consistently inspired, encouraged, and motivated his children and grandchildren to value education and become beneficial members of society. His descendants have achieved bachelor's degrees, with many earning doctorates from prestigious universities worldwide.
The Phan Huy Thiep Scholarship Fund aims to support and encourage students facing difficulties to strive in their studies, thereby nurturing dreams of knowledge in a land rich in tradition.
Annually, the Fund will collaborate with local authorities and the Women's Union to award scholarships to high school students who face challenges but strive for academic excellence.
In its inaugural year, 20 scholarships were directly awarded to 20 students at Thanh Hung Elementary School, Dai Dong commune, Nghe An. These scholarships are not only material support but also carry profound spiritual significance, serving as practical encouragement to bolster students' confidence in their educational journey.

A family representative shared that the scholarship is a way to express affection for their homeland, a place that has nurtured values across generations. Despite living far from the homeland, they always look towards it and hope to contribute practically to its development. The school representative also expressed pride in Phan Huy Thiep, an outstanding son of their homeland, and gratitude for the affection his descendants have for the land of his birth.
The Phan Huy Thiep Scholarship Fund symbolizes family affection, the connection between generations, and the bond between the homeland and its expatriates. The establishment of the Fund is a beautiful testament to the spirit of “remembering the source when drinking water”, while spreading a humanitarian message about community responsibility.
