Running until the end of May 2027, the project focuses on professional training for childcare staff, developing children’s skills and improving living conditions at the centre.
The launch ceremony, held on October 9, featured volunteer activities including repainting communal areas and playgrounds, installing a basketball hoop, organising books in the library, and donating bicycles and sports equipment.
According to the Dong Nai Department of Health, by the end of 2025, the locality had nearly 141,900 people receiving regular social assistance and social pensions, including 562 children under the age of 16 without parental or other care and support.
The Dong Nai Social Work Centre and Children’s Protection Fund currently provides care for 394 people, including 93 children under 16, of whom 18 have disabilities. Of the centre’s 88 staff members, 69 are directly involved in providing care.
According to the project organisers, the initiative was developed in response to the centre’s practical needs, with the aim of improving care quality and supporting children’s holistic development. Staff will receive training in age-specific developmental psychology, mental health, different types of disabilities and nutrition.

In addition, more than 20 children aged two to three will take part in play-based learning activities over an eight-month period.
Children aged six to 18 will receive guidance in essential life skills, including communication, time and money management, mental health care, personal safety and protection against abuse, and safe internet use.
The project builds on saigonchildren’s ongoing support for children in Dong Nai. In 2025, the organisation implemented scholarship programmes, provided early intervention support for preschool children showing signs of autism spectrum disorder, supplied water purifiers, and helped improve school facilities in the locality.
Through the project, the partners aim to strengthen the capacity of childcare staff, improve the children’s living environment and create more opportunities for their development.
