Director General of the Consular Department Doan Hoang Minh meets with Head of the Hong Kong Immigration Department

WVR - On the afternoon of February 5, Director General of the Consular Department Doan Hoang Minh welcomed the Hong Kong delegation led by Mr. Kwok Joon Fung Benson, Head of the Hong Kong Immigration Department. The meeting was attended by the Office of the Special Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.

Welcoming the Hong Kong delegation, Director General Doan Hoang Minh emphasized that Vietnam's current immigration, visa, and residency policies for foreigners are very favorable and open. Notably, from August 2025, the government will begin issuing special visa exemption cards for foreigners eligible for visa-free entry to Vietnam to support socio-economic development (including scientists, leaders of major corporations, and prominent figures in culture, arts, and sports).

The Consular Department Director General expressed thanks and requested that the Hong Kong Immigration Department Head continue to facilitate Vietnamese citizens in entering, residing, working, and studying in Hong Kong. He also committed to supporting Chinese representative offices and Hong Kong authorities in consular protection for Hong Kong citizens in Vietnam.

Hong Kong Immigration Department Head Kwok Joon Fung Benson thanked the Consular Department for its support and close cooperation in recent times. He praised the improvements in Vietnam's immigration and consular policies and shared information about the situation of Vietnamese citizens entering and residing in Hong Kong. He expressed a desire for both sides to continue close cooperation in consular affairs and citizen protection in the future.
