Diplomatic corps to visit Vinh Phuc Province Social Work Center

On the morning of March 24, a delegation from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam and diplomatic cops in Ha Noi paid a working visit to the Social Work Center in Vinh Phuc province.

To attend the programme there were Madam Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, Spouse of Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Honorary President of the ASEAN Community Women’s Circle (AWCH), head of the delegation; the Country Representative of UN Women in Viet Nam Elisa Fernandez; Ambassadors, Heads of Representatives of International organizations in Ha Noi; Ambassadors' Spouses and representatives of Embassies in Viet Nam; Spouses of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Assistant Ministers and leaders of departments under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; leaders of relevant departments and agencies of Vinh Phuc Province; and especially, brothers and sisters, children and elders under the Center’s care.

The Vinh Phuc Province Social Work Center, under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, was reorganized, on the basis of merging two units, the old Social Work Center (established in 2011) and the Center for Social Work Protection (founded in 1997).

According to Mr. Luong Cam Vinh, Director of the Center, having been operating for 25 years, the Center cares for elderly people without care; orphans of both parents, abandoned children, children who have lost either their father or mother, and the remaining parent is incapable of taking care of them, or is missing; people with severe disabilities (from poor, near-poor households); homeless people and people of urgent protection.

Currently, the Center is taking care of 82 beneficiaries of social protection and providing regular therapeutic interventions for 31 children with autism syndrome and mental disorders. “We also engage in consulting, mobilizing resources, providing social work services to help hundreds of disadvantaged people in the community,” Vinh said.

The visit took place on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of Viet Nam's Social Work Day (March 25, 2016 -2022), with the aim of honoring the noble and humane values of those who carry out social work.

Speaking at the event, Madam Vu Thi Bich Ngoc congratulated and expressed sincere appreciation for the quiet but meaningful contributions of the Center’s leaders and staff over the years.

Over the last 2 decades, the Vinh Phuc Social Work Center has been a loving home which provided care for hundreds of people in difficult circumstances. This Center has truly brought familial affection to, and offered a source of support for the elders, brothers, sisters and children in difficult circumstances to enjoy a better life.

“We truly wish to share with and extend the most sincere and warmest affection to the leaders, elders, brothers, sisters and children living at the Center”, said the FM Spouse.

On this occasion, the delegation handed over a donation worth 50 million VND from the International Food Festival Fund, contributed by embassies, international organizations and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Center.

“We hope that this affection and the gifts can partly help with the hardships of the people, creating better living conditions for the elders, brothers and sisters and children at the center,” Maddam Vu Thi Bich Ngoc said.
