Diplomatic corps, int’l organisations briefed on the 13th National Party Congress

The diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations in Viet Nam are invited to attend the opening and closing sessions of the upcoming 13th National Party Congress, which is scheduled to be convened between January 25 and February 2, 2021.

As the key political event to the Party, the State and the people of Viet Nam, the National Party Congress which sets critical milestones in the Party-building and nation-building processes will gather 1,587 delegates representing nearly 5.2 million Party members nationwide, Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan said when briefing the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations about the preparations for the event.

He said that after 35 years of the “Doi moi” (Renewal) process, Viet Nam has recorded monumental and historic achievements in building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

The 13th Party Congress will discuss and adopt The Party Congress political report; The wrap-up report of the Ten-year Socio-economic Development Strategy (2011-2020) and building of the next Ten-year Socio-economic Development Strategy (2021-2030); The assessment report of the five-year socio-economic development plan (2016-2020), orientations and mandates for the next five-year socio-economic development plan (2021-2025); The wrap-up report of Party-building work and implenmentation of the 12th Party Congress's Statute; The review report of the 12th National Party Congress's Central Committee (to be submitted to the 13th Party Congress); The election of the 13th Party Congress's Central Committee (2021-2026 tenure).

Draft documents to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress received broad feedback from the entire Party and the general public both at home and abroad, as well as former Party and State leaders, members of the National Assembly and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, social-political organisations, scientists and managers... It called upon the collective wisdom of the entire Party, people and army in the process of setting the policy line and strategy for national development, construction and defense in the new situation, Quan noted.

The Party official also affirmed that the CPV has paid special attention to the personnel work, considering it as the "core of the core mandate". The personnel preparations have been carried out in a thorough, diligent, prudent, cohesive and step-by-step manner to ensure that candidates who are united, clean, strong collective, consistent in will and action, and firm in political mettle will be elected to the 13th Central Committee of the CPV .

Ambassadors and representatives from diplomatic corps and international organizations attending the briefing appreciated the achievements Viet Nam has gained in the socio-economic development process as well as the sucess of Viet Nam in the fight agaist Covid-19 pandemic, expressing their strong belief that the 13th National Party Congress will be successful and set out policies and guidelines to lead Viet Nam to the new phase of development.
