Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF), scheduled to be held from May 9-13, 2023, is organized by the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) in coordination with Da Nang City People's Committee as well as other relevant foreign agencies.

The Da Nang Asian Film Festival will select and honor outstanding cinematographic works rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries and unique artistic expression; encourage the new Vietnamese and Asian cinema talents; introduce to the public the new, high-value works in content and art of Asian, Vietnamese films and selected films of world cinema.
Da Nang Asian Film Festival is an annual event that will be held in the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang, the city of creativity, rich growth potential and friendly genuine people.
The Festival is expected to take place in 5 days with many outstanding events: Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony; the screenings of In-competition films; "Today’s Vietnamese Cinema" program; other countries’ films introduction; seminars; the "Talent Incubator" workshop and famous landscape sight-seeing.
The "Talent Incubator" workshop includes the "Basic Acting" class instructed by Lydia Park (from Korea) and the "Advanced Acting" class instructed by Tsuyoshi Sugiyama (from Japan). Director Phan Dang Di, an independent filmmaker who has won many awards at the International Film Festivals, and the founder of Autumn Meeting will lead this workshop.
The organizing committee will conduct the castings to select students to participate in the workshop in March 2023 in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Specific information about these casting calls will be announced in the near future.
Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema/NETPAC is one of the foreign partners participating in the organization of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.
In-competition section: Asian Film Awards Category (12 - 14 films expected) including feature-length films (over 70 minutes) from cinemas in the Asia-Pacific region, produced from January 2021 to January 2023. Vietnam Film Awards Category (8 - 10 films expected): Vietnamese feature films produced from January 2021 to January 2023. Non-competition section: "Today’s Vietnamese Cinema" progarm: from 10 to 14 Vietnamese films produced in 2020, 2021, 2022. The Japanese Cinema Spotlight film screenings: 5-7 excellent Japanese feature-length films expected. The screenings of the films from famous partners and guests of world cinema: 6-8 films selected by the Organizing Committee. Outdoor film screenings. Awards within the framework of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival The Asian Film Award category is decided by the Asian Film Jury, including: Grand Prize for Best Film - $5,000 (equivalent to 115 million VND) Special Jury Prize - $3,000 (equivalent to 69 million VND) Best Director Award - $2,000 (equivalent to 46 million VND) Best Actor Award - $2,000 (equivalent to 46 million VND) Best Actress Award - $2,000 (equivalent to 46 million VND) Best Screenplay Award - $2,000 (equivalent to 46 million VND) The category of Vietnamese Film Award is decided by the Vietnamese Film Jury, including: Grand Prize for Best Film - 70 million VND Special Jury Prize - 40 million VND Best Director Award - 20 million VND Best Actor Award - 20 million VND Best Actress Award - 20 million VND Best Screenplay Award - 20 million VND The NETPAC Award for Best Vietnamese Film is decided by the NETPAC Jury, selected in the Vietnamese Film Competition, without prize money. The Audience’s Choice Award for Favorite Vietnamese Film voted by the audience participating in the screenings of "Today’s Vietnamese Cinema" program, without prize money. |
