Ceremony marking 80th National day promotes the image of a dynamic and culturally rich Vietnam in Argentina

The event was attended by Mr. Santiago Paulini, Chairman of the Argentina - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group; Senator Maximiliano Abad, Chairman of the Senate Group with the Asian region; along with representatives from the Government, Parliament, political parties, diplomatic corps, and numerous Argentine friends who cherish Vietnam.

80 years of National Day: Culture in positioning national image

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Ngo Minh Nguyet emphasized the historic significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia, ushering in an era of independence, freedom, and development for the Vietnamese nation.

The Ambassador affirmed that since that historic moment, the Vietnamese people have resiliently built a people's government, defended the nation, and steadily advanced on the socialist path, aiming for the goals of “Wealthy people, strong nation, democracy, justice, and civilization”.

Over the past 80 years, Vietnam has emerged strongly from a war-torn impoverished nation to a dynamic economy, establishing diplomatic relations with 195 countries, forming strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 38 countries, and becoming a member of over 70 international organizations. Vietnam is now among the 32 largest economies and 20 leading countries in global trade.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet highlighted Vietnam's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to become a modern, upper-middle-income developing country by 2030 and a developed, high-income nation by 2045.

The Ambassador also expressed deep gratitude to international friends and the Argentine people for their continuous support and companionship with Vietnam on its 80-year journey of nation-building and development.

Within the event's framework, the Vietnamese Culinary Festival offered guests exquisite experiences with traditional dishes such as beef pho, spring rolls, fried rice, longan sweet soup, and Vietnamese coffee, receiving warm appreciation from international friends.

Alongside the distinctive flavours of the cuisine, the photo exhibition space showcasing Vietnam's land, people, and culture helped Argentine friends gain a deeper understanding of a richly cultured, dynamic, and friendly Vietnam – a nation confidently integrating and reaching out to the world with a spirit of peace and cooperation.
