Vietnam is one of the UK's most dynamic and promising trade partners in Asia

WVR - UK Government Trade Envoy Matt Western visited Vietnam from September 23-26 to strengthen bilateral trade relations, promote cooperation in infrastructure, finance and contribute to advancing the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership on the occasion of its 15th anniversary.

The visit reaffirms the United Kingdom's commitment to supporting Vietnam in its economic transformation and sustainable development goals.

During the visit, Matt Western held bilateral talks with Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, and Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha, focusing on trade priorities, energy cooperation, and opportunities for British businesses in Vietnam's rapidly growing economy.

Envoy Western also participated in a workshop on enhancing the implementation of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD); a conference supporting Vietnam's ambition to develop an International Financial Center (IFC); a healthcare discussion and promoted educational cooperation...

The envoy also met with representatives of the Vietnam-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Central Strategic Policy Department to discuss leveraging trade as a tool to strengthen bilateral relations, while reflecting on 15 years of strategic partnership.

Envoy Matt Western shared: “Vietnam is one of the UK's most dynamic and promising trade partners in Asia, as evidenced by bilateral trade tripling over the past decade, now reaching 9 billion pounds.

This visit reaffirms our shared commitment to sustainable growth, innovation, and deeper economic cooperation. The UK is ready to become Vietnam's partner of choice in infrastructure, finance, healthcare and green energy.”

He also emphasized the UK's commitment to promoting people-to-people exchanges, while introducing British initiatives on innovation, educatio and sustainable development through interactive performances.
