During the meeting with Mr. Juan Castillo, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet extended a respectful invitation to the delegation of the ruling coalition Broad Front (FA) and the Communist Party of Uruguay to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

Mr. Juan Castillo affirmed the historical significance, stature, and enduring values of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which marked the beginning of a new era for the Vietnamese people. He also highly appreciated the political, economic, and social achievements that Vietnam has attained over the past eight decades, particularly the remarkable progress made during the 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation).

Both sides reaffirmed their determination to promote and further strengthen the sound cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and both the Communist Party of Uruguay and the left-wing Broad Front (FA), contributing to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csukasi, Ambassador Nguyet expressed the desire for both sides to continue promoting delegation exchanges, as well as to enhance close coordination, effective cooperation, and mutual support at multilateral and regional forums such as the United Nations, the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), especially the early launch of negotiations for a trade agreement between MERCOSUR and Vietnam.

Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csukasi stated that she will visit Vietnam in mid-August and attend the Fifth Political Consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.

During her working visit, Ambassador Nguyet also attended and delivered a speech at the Advanced Political Theory course of the Communist Party of Uruguay, sharing her insight about Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements as well as its foreign policy in recent years.

The course participants, including a large number of young Party members, showed particular interest in Vietnam's political, economic, cultural, and social landscape. They raised many questions to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s Doi Moi (Renovation) process and its socialist-oriented market economy.

On this occasion, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet also conducted a site visit to review the implementation of the construction of the Vietnam Space on Jose Pedro Varela Avenue in the capital city of Montevideo, located in front of the Antel Arena National Convention Centre—the most modern convention centre in Uruguay.

The Montevideo city government hopes that, through the Vietnam Space, the people of Uruguay and international friends will always remember the great President Ho Chi Minh, the leader of the Vietnamese people. In his journey to find a path to national salvation in 1912, President Ho Chi Minh visited Uruguay.
