WVR - On the afternoon of October 30, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung met with Mrs. Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT).

During the meeting, Mrs. Nualphan Lamsam expressed deep regret and offered a sincere apology for the unfortunate incident involving the incorrect display of the Vietnamese national flag during the draw ceremony for the Southeast Asian U16 and U19 Futsal Championship 2025 on October 28.
She emphasized that this was an unintentional mistake, and FAT immediately conducted a review, committing to preventing similar errors in the future.

Additionally, FAT dispatched a delegation led by Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan to Vietnam to work and directly explain to the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), witnessed by ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Secretary-General Winston Lee.
Mrs. Nualphan shared that with 18 years of involvement in football, she always hopes that sports, especially football, can be a bridge of friendship connecting nations.

The FAT President also expressed a special affection for Vietnam and noted that she always feels the love from Vietnamese football fans during her visits.
Ambassador Pham Viet Hung noted that this was a very regrettable incident; he acknowledged the mutual respect, quick response, goodwill, and openness from FAT and President Nualphan Lamsam in handling the situation.

He hopes similar incidents will not recur in the future and wishes for FAT and President Nualphan Lamsam to continue playing an active role in enhancing cooperation and exchanges between the two football communities, contributing to strengthening and promoting the good cooperative and friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries.
