The delegation was welcomed by Lao Ambassador to the Russian Federation Siphandone Oybuabuddy, his spouse, and the staff of the Lao Embassy.
In his New Year speech, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi extended the best wishes to Ambassador Siphandone and all the staff of the Lao Embassy on the occasion of the Bunpimay New Year. The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam always follows the achievements in construction and development of Laos, hoping that Laos will continue to be stable and prosperous under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. He affirmed that the Vietnam-Laos relationship is an invaluable asset cultivated by many generations of leaders and people of both countries, serving as a foundation for overcoming challenges together.
In response, Lao Ambassador Siphandone Oybuabuddy expressed sincere gratitude for the attention and affection from the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, considering the New Year visit as concrete evidence of the close solidarity between the two diplomatic missions and the two nations. The Ambassador highlighted that the embassies of the two countries in Moscow maintain a close relationship, regularly visiting, interacting, and coordinating in their work, thereby directly contributing to deepening the traditional friendship between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos.
Bunpimay is not only a traditional New Year celebration for the Lao people but also a cultural festival where spiritual values and beautiful customs are preserved and spread. During the meeting, staff from both embassies participated in cultural exchange activities, enjoyed traditional cuisine, and shared unique aspects of celebrating the New Year in each country, from food to rituals, music, and folk dances.

The highlight of the program was the wrist-tying ceremony—a custom rich in Lao identity, symbolizing wishes for health, luck, and peace for the recipient. The small white threads, accompanied by simple yet sincere wishes, helped bridge gaps, creating a cozy, intimate space among the diplomatic staff of the two countries. In that moment, geographical boundaries and cultural differences seemed to fade away, united by brotherly and comradely affection.
Besides traditional rituals, both sides also discussed the current work situation in their areas, sharing information about significant political and economic developments in each country, as well as directions for future cooperation. Both ambassadors expressed confidence that the major political events recently held in Vietnam and Laos will continue to provide new momentum for bilateral relations, particularly in key areas of cooperation such as politics and diplomacy, defense and security, economy, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges.
The meeting concluded in a warm atmosphere, with friendly handshakes and promises to organize more joint activities in the future. In the distant land of Russia, the beautiful images of Vietnam-Laos solidarity during the Bunpimay festival once again affirm that, no matter where they are, the loyal bond between the two brotherly nations is always cherished and continued through generations.
