Young generation contributes to fostering the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos

WVR - On December 14, the Faculty of Communication and International Culture, along with the Lao students at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized the Vietnam-Laos Student Cultural Exchange Day.

Speaking at the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh affirmed that the program has created conditions and opportunities for students from both countries to bond and gain a deeper understanding of each nation's beautiful cultural values. It also allows them to explore the long-standing history of friendship, thereby continuing to promote and strengthen bilateral relations.

The Ambassador emphasized that over the years, Vietnam has supported Laos in implementing socio-economic development plans through various stages. Vietnam has assisted Laos in training human resources across different levels and sectors from the pre-liberation period to the present, with increasing scale and numbers. Currently, over 10,000 Lao students and trainees are enrolled in short-term and long-term training programs in Vietnam, including many at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy Nguyen Manh Dong emphasized that the younger generations, especially students, need to gain a clearer understanding of the history of Vietnam-Laos relations. They also have the responsibility to contribute, nurture, and develop this special relationship in the future, worthy of the "deeper than the waters of the Red and Mekong Rivers" bond.

The event helps Vietnamese and Lao students gain a deeper understanding of each nation's culture and history, particularly the history of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries from past to present. According to him, students from both countries will be the ones to build and foster the future of Vietnam-Laos relations.

Phetnakhone Soulivongsack, Head of the Lao student delegation at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, believes that through today's event, each student will become more aware of the responsibilities of the young Lao-Vietnamese generation, inheriting the traditions of their predecessors, promoting solidarity, and advancing the relationship between the two countries.

"For Lao students like me, studying in Vietnam is a great honour. We not only gain professional knowledge and skills but also receive care and support from Vietnamese teachers and students. This makes us feel that Vietnam truly is a second home," said Phetnakhone Soulivongsack.

Pham Anh Duc, a representative of the Diplomatic Academy students, shared that as a history enthusiast, he learned and heard about the special solidarity between the Party, State, and people of Vietnam and Laos from his school years. The vivid stories and symbols of the selfless and sincere support that Vietnam and Laos have given each other, from past to present, have left a deep impression.

Four years of studying at the Diplomatic Academy—a school with many Lao students—has provided opportunities for students to meet, converse, and interact with Lao friends, thereby learning more and growing fonder of Laos' land, culture, and people.

The Vietnam-Laos Student Cultural Exchange Day offers a youthful and experiential space with a variety of activities such as the "Colors of Vietnam-Laos Students" photo exhibition, showcasing meaningful moments of friendship between students from both countries. It also features traditional Vietnamese and Lao art and costume performances, culinary and handicraft cultural experiences, and traditional games unique to both nations.
