On February 6, amid the excitement of the nation welcoming a new Spring and celebrating the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria solemnly organized the Homeland Spring 2026 program.

The program proudly welcomed over 250 Vietnamese expatriates from various provinces across Bulgaria; generations of Vietnamese-Bulgarian descendants; and representatives of the Vietnamese community in North Macedonia to join and celebrate the traditional Tet – Binh Ngo Spring 2026. The event was also attended by Rositsa Kirova, Chairwoman of the Bulgaria-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group; Simeon Dimchev, Chairman of the Bulgaria-Vietnam Friendship Association; ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Indonesia, Cambodia, Mongolia, Germany, and many Bulgarian friends who cherish Vietnam.

Before the official start of the program, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet presided over a flower offering ceremony at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh within the Embassy premises. The ceremony, attended by all embassy staff and the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria, was a solemn tribute expressing deep respect and gratitude from overseas Vietnamese generations towards President Ho Chi Minh. It was also an occasion for the community to reconnect with their roots and strengthen national pride at the dawn of a new Spring.

In her New Year greeting speech, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet expressed her delight in welcoming the large Vietnamese community, Vietnamese-Bulgarian descendants, ambassadors, diplomatic representatives, and close Bulgarian friends of Vietnam to the Homeland Spring program – celebrating Binh Ngo Spring 2026. The Ambassador emphasized that this is a particularly meaningful occasion for the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria to gather, share the sentiments of those far from home, and reflect on the country's significant milestones over the past year, looking forward to a new year filled with hope, aspirations, and determination.

Informing the community and guests about the results of the 14th National Congress of the Party, the Ambassador stated that the Congress was a great success, setting strategic directions for the rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new era. It marks a new era – an era of Vietnam's rise, affirming the determination to build a strong, prosperous Vietnam with an increasingly high international standing. The Congress particularly emphasized the need for a strong renewal of development thinking, maximizing human resources, science – technology, digital transformation, and the strength of national unity, in which the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part and an important resource for the nation in the new development era.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet also highlighted the country's remarkable achievements in 2025 – a special year with many significant milestones. Despite global economic challenges, Vietnam's economy continued to maintain positive growth, estimated at around 8%, ranking among the highest in the world; macroeconomic stability was largely maintained, and people's living standards continuously improved; national defense and security were upheld; foreign affairs and international integration achieved many outstanding results, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's reputation and position on the international stage. Notably, 2025 marked a significant advancement in Vietnam's foreign relations as, for the first time, Vietnam established strategic partnerships or higher with all permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, G7 countries, and most G20 members.

In this collective achievement, the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship was officially elevated to a Strategic Partnership, opening a new chapter in the history of traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. This significant milestone is linked to the official visit to Bulgaria by General Secretary To Lam in October 2025, reflecting high political trust, long-term vision, and the shared determination of both countries' leaders to develop bilateral relations in a more substantive, effective, and comprehensive manner.

He emphasized that the dedication, responsibility, and sincere affection of the Ambassador and the entire embassy staff have played a crucial role in strengthening unity and building a stronger Vietnamese community in Bulgaria. Nguyen Quang Tuan also appreciated the increasingly prominent role of the younger generation and Vietnamese-Bulgarian descendants in becoming a natural bridge between the two nations, expressing hope that the younger generation will continue to connect with their roots, promote proactive and responsible spirit, thereby spreading a positive, dynamic, and integrated image of Vietnamese people in Bulgaria.

Throughout the program, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet introduced the ambassadors, diplomatic representatives, and numerous Bulgarian friends to the unique beauty of the Vietnamese traditional Tet and the nation's fine cultural values, especially the hospitality, sincerity, warmth, and attentiveness of Vietnamese people when "guests come to visit". The Homeland Spring space became warm and familiar with cultural, culinary, and artistic exchange activities.

A highlight of the program was the Tet culinary space featuring traditional dishes rich in hometown flavors such as banh chung, spring rolls, bamboo shoot soup, and pork pie. Additionally, the Vietnamese Youth – Student Association in Bulgaria, along with Bulgarian artists, presented a variety of rich and culturally distinctive performances, contributing to a joyful, warm atmosphere filled with friendship.

Concluding the program, the Vietnamese community, international guests, and Bulgarian friends enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display right at the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, in an atmosphere of excitement and joy celebrating the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party and welcoming Binh Ngo Spring 2026.
