Early morning of August 29, within the framework of the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's official visit to Vietnam, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son invited Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine at a restaurant on the street Ly Thuong Kiet, in Hoan Kiem District.

On his personal Facebook page, Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said he was happy to return to Hanoi with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong after his visit in June 2021.

He wrote: "Great meeting with Vietnamese leaders, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and my good friend, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son."

In mid-July during his visit to Singapore, Minister Bui Thanh Son was invited by Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to enjoy Singaporean street food at Maxwell Hawker Center. This is one of the most famous and largest culinary centers in Singapore. The two Foreign Ministers enjoyed pancakes, Hainanese chicken rice and Indian-style milk tea.
