Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Tran Thi Thu Thin, the entire staff of the Embassy, representatives from Movitel Telecommunications Company, and members of the Vietnamese community in Mozambique.
At the Embassy headquarters, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates respectfully paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh — the genius leader of the Vietnamese people, Hero of National Liberation, and a great figure of world culture.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin highlighted President Ho Chi Minh’s tremendous contributions and historical stature. She affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style are invaluable spiritual legacies of the Vietnamese people and continue to serve as a powerful source of inspiration for oppressed peoples around the world.
The Ambassador emphasized that for African nations in general, and Mozambique in particular, President Ho Chi Minh symbolizes the spirit of independence, self-reliance, and the aspiration for freedom. In recognition of the Mozambican people's respect and admiration for the Vietnamese leader, in 1977 — shortly after gaining independence — President Samora Machel, the first President of the People's Republic of Mozambique (now the Republic of Mozambique), decided to name the main avenue running past the town hall in the capital city of Maputo “Ho Chi Minh Avenue.”
Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin called on the Vietnamese community in Mozambique to continuously strive to learn from and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. She also emphasized the important role of the Vietnamese community in preserving national identity, promoting solidarity and mutual support, building a strong and united community, integrating well into the host society, and making meaningful contributions to the Vietnam–Mozambique friendship.
Following the incense offering ceremony, delegates watched documentary films about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and legacy and laid flowers at the Memorial Plaque on Ho Chi Minh Avenue in the capital city of Maputo.
On this occasion, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin officially inaugurated the Photo Cabinet at the Embassy headquarters. The exhibition features striking images of President Ho Chi Minh in the hearts of international friends, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), and showcases activities held in Maputo by the Embassy to celebrate this historic day.
