The two sides delved into discussions on how to leverage China's industrial and technological advantages to support the Vietnam Elevator Association and its member enterprises in expanding cooperative exchanges with Chinese partners in investment, trade, and technology sectors.

Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung stated that China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for many consecutive years, with bilateral trade reaching 256.5 billion USD in 2025, an increase of 24.8% compared to the previous year, and continuing to maintain strong growth momentum in the early months of 2026.

In this context, the Vietnamese elevator industry has welcomed a strategic opportunity period to enhance cooperation with Chinese enterprises. The Consulate General will actively play a bridging role, strongly supporting the Vietnam Elevator Association and its member businesses in implementing comprehensive cooperation with Chinese partners according to four main trends: technology transfer and joint research and development, supply chain connectivity, standard system alignment, and talent training collaboration.

Nguyen Hai Duc expressed sincere gratitude for the support of the Consulate General in recent times, introducing the development status of the Vietnamese elevator industry and the three strategic pillars of the Association in its second term (2025-2030): “Standardization, Connectivity, Development”.

He noted that as of early 2025, Vietnam operates approximately 400,000 elevators, with an annual demand for new installations reaching 35,000-40,000 units. The market holds great potential, but the industry still faces numerous challenges regarding safety, technical standards, workforce quality, and product localization capabilities.

According to him, strengthening cooperation with China, particularly in production, technology, and advanced standards, is crucial for enhancing the overall level of the Vietnamese elevator industry.

It is known that the total production of elevators and escalators in China reached 1.41 million units in 2025. The Chinese elevator industry is undergoing a profound transformation from “scale expansion” to “value restructuring”, with leading advantages in the Internet of Things, AI, green technology, and other fields, providing vast space for cooperation between the two sides.

Nguyen Hai Duc further shared that the Vietnam Elevator Association successfully organized the Vietnam Elevator Expo 2026 in Hanoi in April 2026, and for the first time established a national elevator and auxiliary exhibition area, focusing on introducing control solutions developed by Vietnamese elevator enterprises in collaboration with international partners such as INTEC, Germany's Inovance Group, and innovative achievements in integrating traditional Vietnamese lacquer art into elevator design.

The Association expressed its desire to promote a leapfrog development of the Vietnamese elevator industry in technology research and development, standard building, and talent training by enhancing cooperation with China, so that “Made in Vietnam” elevator products not only have internationally competitive functional quality but also possess unique national cultural characteristics, creating a distinct advantage in the global market.

Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Vietnam Elevator Association, expressing delight at the achievements and results the Association has attained recently. He affirmed that he will actively support and promote the alignment of Vietnamese elevator industry standards with Chinese standards in line with international standards, assisting the Association in implementing training projects to help Vietnamese elevator enterprises better integrate into the global elevator industry supply chain system.
