The Ministry of National Defense on February 18 in Ha Noi convened a meeting of the Steering Committee on UN peacekeeping mission.
The Ministry of National Defense implemented the project on UN peacekeeping mission in the 2014-2020 period. So far, the Ministry sent 29 military officers and delployed one field hospital to South Sudan and Central African Republic.

Earlier, the Political Bureau approved of a plan of the Ministry of National Defense to replace the UK team of soldiers by 2020.
The UN is examining the competence of the Vietnamese team of soldiers.
Vietnam is negotiating with the UN and the UK to send the Vietnamese team to South Sudan in February, 2020.
So far, five candidates are seeking the position including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Viet Nam, China, and Croatia.
