From January 27-28, the Fourth Regional Support Office Dialogue of the Bali Process on combating people smuggling, human trafficking, and related transnational crime took place in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Dialogue is a key activity of the RSO, bringing together senior officials, diplomats from Bali Process member countries, experts, and stakeholders working in international migration, combating people smuggling, human trafficking, and related transnational crime.
Under the theme “Security and Protection in Migration: Coordinated Approaches towards Adaptive Systems”, the Fourth Dialogue included one lead discussion session, three thematic discussion sessions, and seven workshops. These aimed to assess progress since the Third Dialogue in 2025 and discuss emerging migration issues, thereby further enhancing regional cooperation in combating people smuggling, human trafficking, and related transnational crime.

In the lead discussion session, Ms. Phan Thi Minh Giang, Director of the Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech proposing several coordinated approaches among regional processes to more effectively tackle challenges along migration routes and the risk of human trafficking amidst the rise of online scams.
At this Dialogue, Vietnam and New Zealand, co-chairs of the Working Group on dismantling people smuggling and human trafficking networks (DWG), led a discussion session on “Joint Actions to Enhance Cross-Border Cooperation and Regional Mechanisms”.

During the discussion session, the Vietnamese delegation shared Vietnam's efforts in implementing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration.
Within the framework of the Fourth Dialogue, the Vietnamese delegation also held a working session with the RSO and UNODC in Thailand to discuss future cooperation issues.
