Under the theme “A Thousand Vietnamese Strokes on Fairy Land”, this cultural activity marks the beginning of the new year Binh Ngo 2026, aiming to honour and spread the nation's traditional values.
The festival's standout feature was the large-scale calligraphy performance, gathering over 1,000 calligraphers from various provinces and cities across the country.

Thousands of simultaneous brush strokes created a vibrant cultural picture, reflecting the depth of Vietnamese script, the spirit of learning, and the aspiration for goodness in the new year.
Ms. Dieu Hien (Ho Chi Minh City), a member of the WATF calligraphy community, expressed her honour to participate in the large-scale calligraphy performance at the start of the year.“Writing in the festive atmosphere, amidst the attention of many locals and tourists, is a very special experience. Each stroke is not only a New Year's wish but also a way for us to spread the love for Vietnamese script and the beautiful values of traditional culture,” Ms. Dieu Hien shared.

Besides the calligraphy performance, the festival was organised as a combination of performance art and experiential space, featuring activities such as traditional music exchanges, Ao Dai and Vietnamese silk shows, traditional craft exhibitions, and free calligraphy gifts for visitors.
Many tourists expressed their impression of the traditional cultural atmosphere at the early spring calligraphy event.

Ms. Thu Minh (Ho Chi Minh City) shared, “It's the first time going out for Spring and seeing the masters write calligraphy in person. The kids loved it, watching and asking the meaning of each character. We even received calligraphy for good luck, so the whole family was happy.”
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Tran Hung, a tourist from Dong Thap, the calligraphy activity helps young people easily access traditional culture. “The open space, watching performances while experiencing, feels very close. If events like this are held regularly, tourists will surely return,” Mr. Hung said.
Many international tourists also spent considerable time in the calligraphy area, taking photos and learning the meaning of each stroke, considering it a distinctive cultural experience during their spring trip to Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Ms. Bui Thi To Trinh, Deputy General Director of Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, the festival is a culturally rich early spring space where traditional values are vividly recreated and connected with contemporary life.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, believes this is a new cultural and tourism product, rich in national identity.
The Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry hopes the festival will become a regular activity, contributing to creating a vibrant start to the new year and increasing the city's tourism appeal.
