The senior legislator called on the two sides to strengthen their coordination in preparation for the high-level delegation visits from now until the year’s end, including the State-level visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, who is due to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in the central city of Da Nang in November 2017.

She said that the Vietnamese Party and State treasure their ties with their Chinese counterparts, regarding them as a top priority in the foreign policy of Vietnam.

She invited the NPC leaders to participate in the 26th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Ha Noi from January 18-21, 2018.

The Chairwoman suggested that the two countries’ ministries, departments and localities implement the common perceptions reached by the senior leaders of the two countries, expand their win-win collaboration in line with their development strategies, and bring their bilateral cooperation to a new height in a more balanced and effective way.

She noted that the 14th National Assembly of Vietnam established the Vietnam-China friendship parliamentary group chaired by NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty. A delegation from the group will visit China in December in order to promote parliamentary ties, she added.

For his part, Zhang Ping said that Vietnam and China should promote their solidarity and friendship and move towards a win-win cooperation and address disagreements.

He said that China is willing to cooperate with Vietnam to deepen the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, adding that the two sides need to effectively implement collaborative programmes and projects, while seeking further cooperation opportunities within the China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative and building a corridor of economic connectivity.

Regarding their legislative ties, the Chinese official said that the two sides have maintained delegation exchanges, especially at high-levels. In 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhang Dejiang visited Vietnam. The two countries’ senior legislators held successful talks, creating a foundation to elevate their bilateral parliamentary relations.

China is ready to work with Vietnam to implement all cooperation agreements and increase experience sharing between the two countries’ parliaments, which will contribute to enhancing the mutual understanding between their peoples and lay an important foundation for the building of a healthy relationship, he added.
