Vietnam among top 5 countries with most flights through Thailand
WVR/VNA - With over 32,000 flights, Vietnam ranks in the top 5 countries with the most flights through Thailand, reflecting the recovery and growth of the regional aviation industry.

According to AEROTHAI, from the beginning of the fiscal year 2026 (October 2025) to date, the total number of flights arriving, departing, and transiting through Thai airspace reached 777,456 flights, averaging 2,558 flights per day. This includes 385,991 international flights, 297,234 domestic flights, and 94,231 transit flights.

China leads with over 84,000 flights, followed by India with over 43,000 flights, Malaysia with nearly 40,000 flights, Singapore with over 38,000 flights, and Vietnam with over 32,000 flights.
Mr. Pichet Kunathamrak, Chairman of the Board of AEROTHAI, stated that in the fiscal year 2026, from October 2025 to September 2026, the total number of flights in Thailand is expected to reach 919,643, averaging 2,520 flights per day, an increase of approximately 1.64% compared to the fiscal year 2025. AEROTHAI aims for the total number of flights to exceed 1 million by 2027.
According to AEROTHAI, although the growth rate is impacted by the conflict situation in the Middle East, the flight volume still indicates that Thailand's aviation industry is continuing to recover and shows a growth trend.
The airports with the highest flight volumes in Thailand are Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Samui. Notably, to accommodate the increasing number of flights from China, AEROTHAI has developed a new route, L770, a direct route to China, expected to be operational from September 3. This route is implemented in collaboration between Thailand, China, and Laos, helping to shorten the distance by approximately 27.5-35.2 nautical miles and enhance air traffic management efficiency.
AEROTHAI stated that the new route also helps airlines save fuel, reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions, while enhancing aviation connectivity between Southeast Asia and China.
The development of the regional flight network is expected to support the increasing travel demand and enhance aviation connectivity between countries in the region.
