Viet Nam received additional 494,400 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility, bringing the total donations to the country to 9,175,700 doses.

The COVAX Facility is co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO), Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and UNICEF as the delivery partner.

“As Viet Nam continues to accelerate vaccination with almost 10 million doses administered, WHO appreciates every single personnel working so hard for this unprecedented vaccination campaign”, says Dr. Kidong Park, WHO Representative for Viet Nam.

“As more vaccines arrive, WHO recommends prioritizing health care workers, frontline workers and people who are of higher risk of severe diseases and deaths -- the elderly and people with comorbidities."
