Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that by joining the expo, Viet Nam aimed to introduce the image of a dynamic country and get closer to 191 participating countries in the world.

At the ceremony, participants enjoyed a Vietnamese traditional art performance show.

On the occasion, senior officials of Viet Nam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth, and another MoU on cooperation between the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and ITL World on promoting Viet Nam’s culture and tourism in the Middle East.

The same day, a business exchange themed “Viet Nam: The Land of Opportunity” was organised with the participation of leaders of various sectors of Viet Nam, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as Vietnamese and foreign businesses.

Along with providing information about Viet Nam’s socio-economic situation and investment opportunities, the event also gave a chance for businesses to meet and seek partners.

Within the framework of the Viet Nam National Day, “The Eternal Flow” programme was held, featuring about 150 Vietnamese and foreign artists, along with a Vietnamese Film Week introducing seven award-winning movies, as well a painting exhibition featuring works by child prodigy Xeo Chu, and a Vietnamese coffee week.

With a history of 170 years, the World Expo is among the world’s oldest and largest events, only after the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup. It has provided a platform to showcase the greatest innovations that have shaped the world today. Expo 2020 will continue that tradition with the latest technology from around the globe.

The Expo 2020 Dubai will last until March 31, 2022, attracting more than 190 countries and international organisations. It is expected to welcome 25 million visitors.
