Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung noted that the two countries had had initial contacts more than 2,000 years ago through cultural, religious and people-to-people linkages.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1972, leaders and peoples of Viet Nam and India have recorded great progress and achievements, Dung said. In terms of trade and investment, India has now become one of the top ten trading partners of Viet Nam.
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, facing with complex development of Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, the two countries and people have shown strong resilience and coordination to assist each other during the difficult time.
“We (Viet Nam and India) share a common vision on many strategic and critical issues and work hard together striving for peace, security and prosperous development in the region and beyond", said Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung.
Participants at the event agreed that the traditional friendship relations between Viet Nam and India have existed for a long time. The two countries share cultural and civilized values, enhance linkages and look forward to the common values of patriotism, humanitarian tradition, and peace-loving. Viet Nam and India also extend their support and assistance to each other in the struggle for national independence, construction and protection.

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga in her speech said that the good relationship between Viet Nam and India has resulted from the joint efforts by the two embassies and ambassadors and has been nurtured by the two peoples for 50 years.
"We receive the support of the two embassies and ambassadors, all delegates here and all our partners in Viet Nam and India to nurture our friendship, to build up our very good relations so that our two nations can enjoy the fruitful results and achievements of our relations and make contributions to our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, to the peace and stability of the region and the world", said the VUFO President.

As stated by Indian Ambassador to Viet Nam Pranay Verma, India and Viet Nam would always continue to promote and tighten the friendship between the two countries.
“It is great that we can sit together and celebrate the relationship between the two countries in 2022 because it only comes once every 50 years. The relationship between the two countries will be further tightened and promoted through interaction.
On this occasion, I had the opportunity to visit the mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh with Vietnamese friends, visited the commemorative tree at Tran Quoc Pagoda, which was planted in 1959 when the late President of India visited Viet Nam in 1959. Those things are meaningful and I am really glad. That is why we will always continue to promote and tighten that lasting friendship”, said the Indian Ambassador.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnam Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau shared the similarities in culture and style of celebrating key festivals, such as the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in Viet Nam and Diwali festival of Indian people.
Over the past 50 years, Viet Nam-India relations have been constantly promoted, developed to the highest level as a comprehensive strategic partnership and witnessed the development of extensive relations in every field, he said.

To participate in the celebration, delegates and guests had the opportunity to enjoy and experience the unique and long-standing cultural art forms of Viet Nam and India, such as ca tru, cheo, traditional dance...
