The four-day expo is displaying and selling a range of quality products from Thailand, including food and beverages, household products, textiles and garments, and health and beauty products, among others. Exhibitors are also seeking partners for trade and network expansion.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency for Southern Affairs, said Vietnam and Thailand have long-established a traditional friendship, particularly in investment and trade.
Their bilateral cooperation has grown fruitfully in almost all fields over recent years, he noted, adding that Vietnam considers Thailand a strategic partner in realizing its sustainable development goals.
The two countries’ investment and trade promotion agencies will continue to bolster programs facilitating transactions between business communities, he said.
According to the Director of the Thai Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP)’s HCM City Office Suparporn Sookmark, Vietnam - Thailand trade has maintained growth despite COVID-19. In the first half of this year, Thailand channeled 1.58 billion USD worth of FDI into Vietnam, making it the second-largest foreign investor in the country. The two nations have set a goal of raising bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD this year.
She said Thailand wishes to be a trustworthy economic partner of Vietnam and is committed to boosting bilateral trade.
A similar event took place in the capital city of Ha Noi in July.
Thailand is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, with bilateral trade exceeding 17 billion USD in 2019.
