Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Ha Hung Cuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Peace and Development Council, on behalf of Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, former member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Honorary Chairman of the Vietnam Peace and Development Council, and member of the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam, delivered her speech and stated that the seminar is a very meaningful and timely event at a pivotal moment for the country and the nation.

“The seminar's theme is extremely meaningful and necessary at this time, on the journey to uphold peace, independence, and nurture freedom, development, and happiness for the country and the nation, for Vietnamese people worldwide,” according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh.

Reading Ms. Bình's speech, Mr. Cuong noted that the leaders and key officials of the NLF were all resistance fighters against the French, who then continued the struggle against the Americans. They were all staunch cadres and party members, striving to fulfill their duties in every position.

“In every position, whether in the South or at the Paris Conference, we received wholehearted support from the socialist North and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam government.

The formation of the NLF was a manifestation of the great national unity between the North and the South, which no force could divide. This is an invaluable historical lesson for the Vietnamese nation. That lesson remains a precious experience for the Vietnamese people: when there is strong national unity, broad international solidarity can be mobilized,” wrote Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh.

Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated and thanked the coordination in organizing the meeting by the Peace and Development Foundation, the Ho Chi Minh City Peace Committee, and the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations.

“Today's gathering is a valuable space to connect historical memories with contemporary values of the strength of great national unity in the process of building, defending, and developing the country. The lessons from the NLF not only hold historical significance but also illuminate the current efforts to build a great national unity bloc, contributing to the prosperity of Ho Chi Minh City and the nation,” Ms. Hanh stated.

Ms. Ha Thanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, also remarked that the meeting not only reflects on the glorious history but also draws lessons on the spirit of unity, tolerance, respect for differences, and continues to connect Vietnamese people at home and abroad.

She emphasized the goal of spreading the message of great unity, peace, and connection across generations of Vietnamese people, values that the Union and organizations always pursue in people's diplomacy.

During the seminar, Mr. Kieu Xuan Long, former Chief of Staff of the Saigon - Gia Định Zone Committee's Intelligence and Propaganda Department, shared stories and valuable lessons from his time working with the National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam.

Mr. Kieu Xuan Long also highlighted the crucial role of religions in the struggle, as religious organizations not only protected revolutionary fighters but also spread the spirit of national unity, contributing to the strength of the liberation movement.

“The strength of the NLF lay not only in politics and military but also in its ability to connect forces, unite the nation and the world. It was from this spirit that we achieved unity and victory in the resistance against the U.S.,” Mr. Long affirmed.

Mr. Pham Chanh Truc, former Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, also briefly summarized the important points about the role of the National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam and emphasized that the NLF was a continuation of the spirit of great national unity.

“It was the unity, the combination of political and armed struggle, that helped us gain independence and victory. Unity is the key to overcoming all difficulties and achieving freedom,” Mr. Truc emphasized.

Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, shared memories of her revolutionary activities from 1960 when she was just 15 years old. She participated in the National Liberation Front Congress in Go Cong, where she learned much about the movement and national unity. Later, she joined the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the People's Revolutionary Party of Vietnam.

She also recalled being arrested and imprisoned for 11 years but remained steadfast in her revolutionary ideals.

Ms. Truong My Hoa affirmed that the NLF played a crucial role in mobilizing the masses, contributing to the revolutionary victory. She was moved when recalling the contributions of the Front and the people who laid a solid foundation for the Vietnamese revolution.
