Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc welcomes Vientiane capital’s leader

WVR - Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc proposed that Hanoi and Vientiane continue to promote comprehensive cooperation, effectively implement high-level agreements, and enhance infrastructure, trade, and education connectivity projects between the two capitals of Vietnam and Laos.

On the afternoon of May 12, at the Government Headquarters, Member of the Politburo, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc received Athsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Vientiane Capital, and the high-level delegation of Vientiane Capital, People's Democratic Republic of Laos, on the occasion of their visit and working trip to Vietnam.

During the meeting, on behalf of the Government's leadership, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc congratulated Comrade Athsaphangthong Siphandone on his new appointment by the Party and State of Laos. He highly appreciated the visit and working trip to Hanoi by the Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Vientiane Capital, which contributes to concretizing high-level agreements between the two Parties and States, while promoting deeper and more effective cooperation between the two capitals, Hanoi and Vientiane.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc congratulated the significant achievements that the Party Committee, government, and people of Vientiane Capital have achieved in recent times, contributing importantly to the cause of protecting, building, and developing the country of Laos.

At the same time, the Standing Deputy Prime Minister praised the cooperation results achieved between the capitals of Hanoi and Vientiane in recent times, with frequent delegation exchanges and numerous specific cooperation projects.

Additionally, Comrade Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc also appreciated that beyond the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two capitals for the 2026-2030 period, during this visit, the departments and sectors of the two capitals signed 7 Memoranda of Cooperation, demonstrating the comprehensive cooperation level between the two capitals.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always prioritize the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, considering it an invaluable common asset with long-term strategic significance for both nations; the Government has developed a plan to implement high-level agreements between the two Parties.

The cooperation relationship between Vientiane Capital and Hanoi Capital should be placed within the overall special relationship between the two countries.

Emphasizing that Hanoi and Vientiane need to promote more practical and effective cooperation, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc proposed that the two capitals enhance the effective implementation of high-level agreements and the results of the 48th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, coordinate effectively in implementing the Hanoi-Vientiane Cooperation Memorandum for the 2026-2030 period, and continue to exchange projects suitable to each side's potential.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc also suggested that Vientiane Capital continue to facilitate important cooperation projects between the two countries that have been and will be implemented in Laos, such as the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park or the Laos-Vietnam Friendship University.

Speaking at the reception, Athsaphangthong Siphandone expressed his pleasure in visiting and working in Vietnam for the first time in his capacity as Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Vientiane Capital; he sincerely thanked Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc for taking the time to receive the delegation.

The Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Vientiane Capital informed the Standing Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam about the very practical and effective discussions between the two Party Secretaries and between the two Chairmen of the People's Councils of Hanoi and Vientiane.

Acknowledging the guidance of the Standing Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, the Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Vientiane Capital expressed his desire for the high-level leaders of Vietnam, especially Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, to continue to pay attention, support, and direct so that the cooperation relationship between the two capitals achieves the highest results.

He also hopes that both sides will promote economic-social development cooperation projects, encourage Hanoi businesses to invest more in Vientiane, build commercial centers in each capital, and implement additional infrastructure projects to meet development needs in the new phase.
