The inauguration ceremony was grandly held at the National Stadium in the capital city of San José, attended by delegations from over 70 countries and 18 international organizations, including many Heads ofSstate such as King Felipe VI of Spain and the Presidents of the Dominican Republic, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Israel, and others.
At the event, Laura Fernández Delgado took the oath as the 50th President of the Republic of Costa Rica and introduced her new cabinet, marking the official start of her administration for the 2026-2030 term.
The new government is expected to continue promoting institutional reforms, enhancing governance effectiveness, while maintaining macroeconomic stability and expanding international integration.
In her speech at the ceremony, the new President emphasized her commitment to serving the people with integrity and dedication; viewing the governance of the country as an unending effort for the dignity, justice, and happiness of every citizen; and affirmed that the inauguration is a symbol of faith in democracy, the value of responsible leadership, and the spirit of continuity.

On this occasion, Ambassador Le Quang Long conveyed the congratulations of General Secretary, President To Lam and extended an invitation for an early visit to Vietnam to the new President Laura Hernández Delgado; affirming that Vietnam values the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Costa Rica; and expressing confidence that the new term will create momentum to boost bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, science and technology, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
The year 2026 also marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (April 24, 1976 – April 24, 2026), providing an opportunity to deepen cooperation, including enhancing presence in each country and coordinating within the framework of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which Costa Rica recently concluded negotiations to join at the beginning of this month.

The presence of Vietnam at this Presidential inauguration also contributes to strengthening political trust and expanding substantive cooperation in Vietnam-Costa Rica relations in the future.
