Seafood exports rake in about 9 billion USD in 2018
Vietnam earned about 9 billion USD from exports of aquatic products in 2018, an increase of 8.4 percent year-on-year, said Acting Director General of Directorate of Fisheries Nguyen Ngoc Oai.

Of the figure, export revenue of tra (pangasius) fish hit 2.26 billion USD, up 26.4 percent, Oai said at a conference on December 24 to review the Directorate’s performance in 2018 and launch tasks in 2019.

According to the directorate, aquatic output is estimated to reach nearly 3.6 million tonnes this year, up 5.96 percent from the previous year.
In 2019, the sector sets a target of raising aquatic production value by 4.25 percent compared to 2018. Total aquatic output is expected to hit 7.9 million tonnes, while export revenue rakes in 10 billion USD, up 11.1 percent.
