Leaders’ activities
On July 11, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam opened a book of condolences for late Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent a wreath of flowers to pay tribute to late Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo who was also former Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party.
On behalf of Vietnamese leaders, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh came to pay homage and wrote in the book of condolences at the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also sent a wreath of flowers to pay tribute to the late Japanese Prime Minister.
Representatives of ministries, agencies, localities, friendship organisations and a large number of people from all walks of life also came to pay tribute to the late Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo at the Embassy.
The Vietnamese leaders conveyed the deepest condolences of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the Government, the people of Japan and the family of the late Prime Minister.

On July 14, on the occasion of the National Day of the French Republic (July 14, 1789-2022), President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a congratulatory message to President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Senate President Gérard Larcher and National Assembly Speaker Yaël Braun-Pivet.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a congratulatory message to French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna.
On July 12, at the Presidential Palace, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc received outgoing Dutch Ambassador Elsbeth Akkermann and Swiss Ambassador Ivo Sieber.
On July 11, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Argentinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship Santiago Andres Cafiero, who was on his official visit to Vietnam.
On July 13, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for newly-appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis who came to present the UN Secretary-General's credentials, beginning her term of office in the country.

On July 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the National Steering Committee to implement Vietnam's commitments at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), chaired the 3rd meeting of the Steering Committee.
On July 13, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Sommad Pholsena, who was leading a high-ranking delegation of the Lao National Assembly on a working visit to Vietnam. The visit of the Vice President of the Lao National Assembly aims at concretizing the cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies signed in May, within the framework of the official visit to Laos by National Assembly Chairman Hue.
On July 15, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Regional Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the Western Pacific Takeshi Kasai.
On July 13, Politburo member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, and Chinese State Councilor, Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-chaired the 14th meeting of the Steering Committee for Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation in Nanning, the capital of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. On July 11, at the Government Headquarters, receiving Mr. Janusz Wojciechowski, High Commissioner for Agriculture of the European Union (EU), Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh suggested the EU facilitate the export of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products of the EU.
Activities of the Foreign Affairs Minister
On July 15, on the occasion of Ms. Hadja Lahbib's appointment as Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a congratulatory message.
On July 15, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son had phone talks with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky. Minister Jan Lipavsky affirmed the Czech Government always backs the promotion of ties between Vietnam and the EU.
As the rotating chair of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2022, the Czech Republic will hasten EU agencies to consider Vietnam's proposal on removal of a “yellow card” on Vietnamese fisheries sector and EU member countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

On July 13, at phone talks, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and new Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin agreed to take effective measures to fulfill the goal of raising bilateral trade to 100 billion USD by 2023, and 150 billion by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable manner, which increases the volume of Vietnam's exports to Korea.
From July 9-11, at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Argentinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship Santiago Andres Cafiero paid an official visit to Vietnam. On the morning of July 11, Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed and held talks with Minister Santiago Andres Cafiero.
Bilateral activities
On July 15, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu led a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Lao Embassy in Vietnam to congratulate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962-2022) and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos (July 18, 1977-2022).
On July 1, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang on July 15 received Giuseppe Cerasoli, Deputy General Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The Assistant Minister suggested the two sides continue effectively implementing the development cooperation agreement between the two nations, focusing on the fields where Italy has strength and Vietnam has demand such as adaption to climate change, energy, sustainable development, improving the law system, infrastructure and human resources.
On July 14, in Hanoi, the Embassy of the French Republic in Vietnam celebrated the 233rd anniversary of the National Day of the French Republic (July 14, 1789 - July 14, 2022). On behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc expressed his pleasure to attend the event and stressed July 14 has become an annual occasion for promoting the Vietnam-France friendship and honoring the quintessence of the interaction between the two cultures, citing the fact that there is French influence in Vietnamese architecture, language, cuisine and others. In 2023, both countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the 10th year of their strategic partnership, which are expected to raise bilateral ties to a new height.
On July 13, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu attended and delivered a congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Iranian Art Heritage, the Cradle of Civilization” in Hanoi. The exhibition was co-organized by the Embassy of Iran, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
On July 11, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu went to the Angolan Embassy in Vietnam to sign the book of condolences on the passing of former Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos.
On July 10, in Bac Giang province, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the People's Committee of Bac Giang province coordinated to organize the Business Connection Forum Thailand -Bac Giang Industry 2022.
Last week, Vietnamese Ambassador to the European Union (EU) Nguyen Van Thao presented a Letter of Credentials to EC President Ursula Von der Leyen; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cyprus Duong Hai Hung presented the Letter of Credentials to President Nicos Anastasiades; Vietnamese Ambassador to Uruguay Duong Quoc Thanh presents his Credentials Letter to President Luis Lacalle Pou.
Multilateral activities
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and handed over a letter from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh responding to the Secretary-General's proposal on establishing Vietnam-UN cooperation on climate change response and sharing Vietnam's efforts to realise commitments at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference. In his letter, the Prime Minister also thanked the UN as well as the Secretary-General himself for their support for Vietnam, including the establishment of the partnership with the Group of Seven (G7) on energy transition.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson
On July 15, in response to a reporter's question about the situation concerning citizen protection in Ukraine, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine to closely monitor the situation in accordance with the law.
Other activities
On the morning of July 11, the Forum "Connecting overseas Vietnamese businesses with the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises" was held by the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Vietnam Business Association small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
