To develop comprehensive, fast and sustainable tourism, localities constantly improve product quality, create added value for tourism products linked and cooperated among localities and destinations. Thanks to that, many tourism products clearly demonstrating linkages have been formed, initially bringing about effectiveness.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have promoted cooperation, support, facilitated, organized connections and directed tourism businesses in the region to carry out many new tourism programs and models, suitable for each locality, building attractive tourism routes, attracting many tourists.

"Many travel and tourism companies in the capital have organized tours to explore the Mekong Delta region. Tourism in the Southwest region is really attractive to Hanoi tourists because of the cultural differences, gentle and hospitable people and extremely unique river tourism products," said a leader of the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

On July 23, in Can Tho city, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Tourism and the Kon Tum Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism jointly organized a conference to promote inter-regional tourism destinations between Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Kon Tum with the Southwest provinces.

Sharing about the implementation of tourism development and linkage programs between the city and localities, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism Le Truong Hien Hoa said: "The city has proactively implemented many tourism development cooperation and linkage programs. Tourism routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Mekong Delta localities such as: Tien Giang - Vinh Long - Can Tho - Hau Giang - Soc Trang - Bac Lieu-Ca Mau further exploit indigenous cultural values, activities to experience ethnic culinary specialties, and community tourism activities in the direction of "following nature."

A conference on tourism development linkage between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the key economic region in Central region was held in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province on July 31. According to the organizing board, since September 2022 to now, thanks to the close coordination, tourism activities of the provinces and cities in the linked group have increasingly developed, with over 100 million arrivals of sightseeing visitors and accommodation tourists; social income from tourism has reached nearly 517,000 billion VND. Of which, in the first six months of 2024, the total number of sightseeing visitors and accommodation tourists of the seven provinces and cities in the linked group was estimated at over 30 million arrivals; social income from tourism was estimated at over 177,000 billion VND.

The results achieved are very encouraging, successfully achieving the goal of increasing the rate of tourists, effectively contributing to the socio-economic development of the whole region and the whole country.

To effectively implement and concretize tourism development linkage activities among provinces and cities, it is necessary to connect tourism products with airlines to increase flight frequency, have a coordination mechanism between transportation, travel and accommodation businesses and airlines to develop preferential product packages, stimulate domestic tourism.

In addition, state management agencies for tourism in localities must also increase the exchange of work and experience, especially in management, ensuring the maintenance of a green, environmentally friendly tourism environment, contributing to building the image of friendly, safe and sustainable Vietnamese tourism.

Regional linkage is not only one of the effective tourism development solutions, but also a key trend of the tourism industry, bringing many benefits for sustainable socio-economic development for localities in particular and for the whole country in general.
