WVR - On April 4, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Kuwaiti Ambassador to Vietnam Yousef Ashour Al-Sabbagh to discuss measures to promote the Strategic Partnership and cooperation in ensuring energy security between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always highly values its relationship with Kuwait. Recalling the successful phone call with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah in early March, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides closely coordinate to concretize the agreed contents, especially ensuring the safety of Vietnamese citizens in Kuwait and implementing the Action Plan for the 2026-2030 period towards diversifying areas of cooperation.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister respectfully conveyed greetings from General Secretary To Lam and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to the Emir and leaders of Kuwait, inviting the Kuwaiti Prime Minister to officially visit Vietnam in 2026.

Amidst the complex developments in the Middle East, the Prime Minister expressed concern about the negative impacts on global economic and energy market security and stability.

The Prime Minister emphasized Vietnam's consistent stance that disputes must be resolved by peaceful means, through dialogue based on international law, and expressed hope for peace to be restored in the region soon.

Regarding economic cooperation, the Prime Minister proposed that both sides continue to strengthen cooperation by accelerating the FTA negotiations between Vietnam and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and enhancing stronger connections between businesses of the two countries.

The Prime Minister also suggested that Kuwait closely cooperate on energy security to address current challenges, contributing to stabilizing production and the lives of people.

The Prime Minister proposed that both sides continue to strengthen cooperation by accelerating the FTA negotiations between Vietnam and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and enhancing stronger connections between businesses of the two countries.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador shared that the Emir and Kuwaiti leaders highly appreciated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Kuwait in November 2025, especially the upgrade of relations to a Strategic Partnership, marking a significant shift in bilateral relations. He noted that relevant ministries and sectors of both countries are actively implementing the outcomes of the visit effectively.

In the current context, the Ambassador stated that Kuwait has been and will continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam to ensure energy security, affirming that the Kuwaiti Government is striving to provide necessary support for Kuwaiti citizens and foreigners residing in Kuwait, including Vietnamese citizens.

The Ambassador pledged to make efforts and actively serve as a bridge to encourage Kuwaiti energy corporations and investment funds to increase their presence in Vietnam, contributing to making the Strategic Partnership between the two countries more substantive, effective, and reliable.
