Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrives in Kuala Lumpur to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit

WVR - On the morning of October 26 (local time), the special aircraft carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived in Kuala Lumpur to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related high-level meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The visit takes place from October 25-28, 2025, at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on behalf of Malaysia were Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek; Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai; Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia; along with representatives from the Prime Minister's Office and liaison officers for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

On the Vietnamese side were Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh; embassy staff, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.

During the three-day visit in Kuala Lumpur, the Prime Minister will attend and speak at sessions within the framework of the 47th ASEAN Summit; participate in the ASEAN Awards Ceremony and the signing of the Declaration on Timor-Leste's Admission to ASEAN; and attend ASEAN Summits with partners from the United States, China, India, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United Nations.

Additionally, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will co-chair the 13th Mekong-Japan Summit; attend meetings such as the 3rd Asian Community Leaders' Zero Emissions Summit, the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, the 28th ASEAN 3 Summit, the 19th East Asia Summit (EAS), and the 5th RCEP Summit, among others.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of participating countries and international organizations, alongside other significant activities.

At the 47th ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders will evaluate ASEAN cooperation results in 2025 under the theme “Inclusive and Sustainable”, and set directions for building the ASEAN Community in the future. This includes developing a roadmap and prioritizing the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and strategic plans in political-security, economic, socio-cultural, and connectivity areas. They aim to enhance the effectiveness of ASEAN-led mechanisms, substantiate ASEAN's external relations, strengthen and promote ASEAN's central role, and discuss international and regional issues of mutual concern. Notably, during this occasion, leaders will sign the Declaration on Timor-Leste's Admission to ASEAN.

In ASEAN Summits with partners, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and ASEAN leaders will review and direct efforts to promote relations between ASEAN and its partners, especially enhancing cooperation in current key areas such as trade, investment, market diversification, supply chains, science-technology, innovation, climate change response, disease, and natural disaster management, and discuss international and regional situations.

Through these Summits, Vietnam reaffirms its active participation and responsible contributions to the overall success of the meetings; maintains solidarity and consensus within ASEAN; contributes to common efforts, especially in maintaining a peaceful and stable regional environment; diversifies relations and markets, strengthens ASEAN connectivity, and is ready to consider supporting and effectively implementing initiatives from countries and partners that align with Vietnam's and ASEAN's interests, as well as peace, security, and development in the region and the world.
