Prime Minister Le Minh Hung receives Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes

WVR - On the afternoon of May 20, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung conveyed his regards to the Cuban Revolutionary Leader, General Raul Castro, First Secretary, President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, and other Cuban leaders. He expressed gratitude for the congratulatory letters and messages from key Cuban leaders on the success of the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the recent 16th National Assembly election.

The Prime Minister affirmed that in his new position, he will continue to contribute to the ongoing expansion and enhancement of the special friendship and cooperation, commensurate with the potential, level of relations, and political trust between the two countries.

Expressing his honor to meet Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes conveyed the best wishes from the leaders of the Cuban Party, State, and Government to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.

The Ambassador was delighted to share with the Prime Minister the positive developments in the bilateral relations in recent times, particularly the regular exchange of delegations at all levels. Notably, the state visit to Cuba by General Secretary, President To Lam (September 2024) and the state visit to Vietnam by First Secretary, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel (September 2025) marked the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and coincided with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day on September 2, 2025.

Notably, cooperation in fields such as agriculture, justice, and biotechnology continues to be strengthened; cooperative projects in rice cultivation, aquaculture, and food production in Cuba have achieved many practical results.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party, Government, and people of Vietnam always remember and cherish the solidarity, sincere, pure, and faithful support that the Party, Government, and people of Cuba have given to Vietnam during the struggle for national liberation in the past as well as in the current construction and development of the country.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister hopes that both sides will continue to strengthen and further enhance the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister proposed that both sides closely coordinate in implementing the agreements reached by the high-level leaders of the two countries; promote the exchange of delegations at all levels and sustainable cooperation; closely coordinate in organizing activities on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro, a great friend of the Vietnamese people (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2026); enhance the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two governments and between ministries, sectors, and localities; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.

Fully agreeing with the Prime Minister Le Minh Hung's directive orientations, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes affirmed that Cuba always regards Vietnam as a brother, a close comrade, and a model in the cause of renovation and national development; affirming that Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent years are a source of inspiration for the Cuban people.

The Ambassador expressed his desire for both sides to continue to cooperate and share experiences, especially lessons from Vietnam's 40-year implementation of the Doi Moi policy; ready to work with Vietnam to effectively implement high-level agreements, deepen substantive cooperation in fields where both sides have strengths and needs, especially in agriculture and biotechnology.
