Warmly welcoming Speaker Kover Laszlo leading the high-level Hungarian National Assembly delegation on an official visit to Vietnam, President Luong Cuong noted the visit's significance as this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary (1950-2025). This visit follows closely after the Hungarian President's official visit to Vietnam in May 2025, highlighting the high level of trust between the two nations. He expressed that the visit by the National Assembly Speaker would further promote the Vietnam-Hungary Comprehensive Partnership and effectively deepen cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
The President expressed gratitude for Hungary's invaluable support and assistance to Vietnam during its struggle for national liberation and in its current construction and development efforts. He affirmed that Vietnam always values and seeks to enhance cooperation with Hungary, a top-priority partner and Vietnam's first Comprehensive Partner in Central and Eastern Europe.

Delighted to revisit Vietnam after 10 years, Hungarian National Assembly Speaker Kover Laszlo conveyed greetings from President Sulyok Tamás and other Hungarian leaders to President Luong Cuong. He sincerely thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their warm, respectful, and thoughtful reception.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in Vietnam-Hungary relations across all fields, especially since the two countries elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership in 2018. Numerous delegations at various levels, including high-level ones, have been exchanged. Economic and trade relations remain a highlight, with bilateral trade reaching approximately 1 billion USD annually from 2020-2024. Cooperation in defense-security, education-training, culture, and environment continues to achieve positive progress.
Praising the outcomes of the talks between Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the Hungarian National Assembly Speaker, President Luong Cuong expressed hope that the legislative bodies of both nations would continue to collaborate to create a legal framework facilitating efforts to promote bilateral cooperation, serving the common interests of both countries and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development regionally and globally.
To further enhance substantial and effective Vietnam-Hungary cooperation, the President suggested both sides increase exchanges and delegation visits at all levels and through various channels to strengthen political trust. He emphasized boosting economic, trade, and investment cooperation; defense-security, science-technology, education-training, culture-tourism, and promoting people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding and explore new areas of cooperation where both sides can complement and support each other.

Agreeing with President Luong Cuong's proposals, the Hungarian National Assembly Speaker stated that the legislative bodies of both countries would coordinate to implement high-level agreements and support their governments in enhancing bilateral cooperation across all fields. He emphasized the goal of soon increasing bilateral trade to 2 billion USD and affirmed that the Hungarian National Assembly would support urging remaining EU member states to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and advocate for the European Commission (EC) to lift the IUU yellow card on Vietnamese seafood exports.
Hungarian National Assembly Speaker Kover Laszlo appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Hungary to the local socio-economic landscape and affirmed that the Hungarian National Assembly and local governments would continue to support and facilitate the community.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, both leaders affirmed that Vietnam and Hungary would continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations and within the ASEAN-EU framework. They also emphasized their commitment to resolving disputes peacefully, respecting international law to maintain stability and security in each region.
The Hungarian National Assembly Speaker agreed that amid geopolitical tensions, strategic competition, and fragmentation, both sides should enhance multilateral cooperation, contributing responsibly and constructively to regional and international issues for peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
On this occasion, the Hungarian National Assembly Speaker conveyed President Sulyok Tamas's invitation for President Luong Cuong to visit Hungary. President Luong Cuong accepted with pleasure and noted that the visit would be arranged through diplomatic channels.
