Earlier, the organising board received 67 works registered for the prizes in 2018 in five categories, including literature and theory of folklore; customary customs, festivals and addresses of folklore; culinary culture, traditional occupations and folk knowledge; folk shaping art; and folk performance arts.
Addressing the ceremony, Professor To Ngoc Thanh, who is Chairman of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, said that, besides the projects in the form of collections, there were case studies based on the theory of characteristics and the history of the folk culture department. These projects account for about 10% of the total number of entries.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association granted the title of Vietnam Folk Artist in the first phase of 2018 to 21 artisans, congratulated the elderly members, and awarded certificates to individuals and organisations for their contributions in preserving folk art.
