On May 28, the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy, ​​organized a high-level technical workshop with the theme “Supporting Vietnam’s Energy Transition Journey”. The event was attended by more than 70 delegates representing state management agencies, large enterprises in the energy sector, international experts and domestic and foreign private partners.

In her opening remarks, Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam Hilde Solbakken emphasized: “We welcome this excellent initiative of the Electricity Regulatory Authority. The workshop affirms Norway’s commitment to supporting Vietnam in its green energy transition. From Norway’s experience, this is a journey that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the private sector."

At the workshop, experts from DNV – the world’s leading Norwegian group in risk management and quality assurance presented many in-depth contents related to clean energy technologies such as offshore wind power, green hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, as well as digital solutions in risk management and operational optimization. These technical and strategic analyses aim to support Vietnam in realizing its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Mr. Brice Le Gallo, Vice President of DNV Asia Pacific, said: “Vietnam’s commendable renewable energy ambitions are shaping the country’s future as a green energy hub in the region.

DNV is committed to accompanying and sharing in-depth knowledge to accelerate the process of efficient and sustainable energy transition."

Mr. Hagsung Kim, Vice President of Global Business Development of DNV, affirmed: "Vietnam is opening up a large space for innovation. DNV will take advantage of experience and digital solutions to turn complex technical data into effective and safe decisions, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's leading role in developing clean energy in the region."

Mr. Tran Hoai Trang, Deputy Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority, said that Vietnam is entering a pivotal stage in the energy transition process. Although facing challenges in energy security, domestic supply shortages and increasing import pressure, this is also an important opportunity to build a solid foundation for green and sustainable growth.

The workshop is not only a forum for knowledge sharing but also a strategic step in connecting stakeholders to build substantive partnerships, thereby contributing to promoting Vietnam's energy transition process faster, more deeply and more effectively in the coming time.
