Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and deputy head of the tournament organising committee, noted that this is the third consecutive year the central coastal city has hosted the tournament. The city aims to make golf tourism a leading attraction, catering to the growing demand for golf vacations and solidifying its position as a top destination for the sport in Asia.
Taking place at the resort’s Nicklaus course, the championship, part of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) under the Asian Tour system, is set to follow a stroke play format over three rounds of 18 holes each. After 36 holes, there will be a cut line enforced, and only the top 50 players and ties will advance. The winner will be the one with the lowest gross score at the end of the tournament.
Among the 144 competitors this year, Vietnam has 20 golfers, including eight professionals. The tournament also features notable international golfers who have achieved significant successes in global and regional golf events, such as Rahil Gangjee (India), Khalin Joshi (India), Ahmad Baig (Pakistan), Natipong Srithong (Thailand), Kosuke Hamamoto (Thailand), and Runchanapong Youprayong (Thailan).
With its many world-class golf courses and the rapid growth of golf tourism in key international markets, Da Nang has defined golf tourism as a crucial segment in its market strategy. In the first seven months of 2024, the city’s three golf courses recorded a total of 98,703 rounds, an increase of over 4,700 rounds compared to the same period last year. The Legend Danang Golf Resort led the way with more than 66,320 rounds.
