More tourism destinations temporarily shut down due to COVID-19

Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces have decided to temporarily shut down Hue Citadel and My Son Relics in an effort to staunch COVID-19 outbreak.

Accordingly, Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho asked the Department of Culture and Sports and Hue Monuments Conservation Center to temporarily close the monument complex from 5:00 PM of March 15.

Relic management boards were asked to apply disinfectant spray to prevent disease spreading.

The Hue provincial People’s Committee also recommended closure of karaoke bars, bars, and cinemas.

In Quang Nam province, the local authorities issued a directive on disease prevention in tourism areas.

The My Son Management Board of Relics and Tourism on March 14 announced that they would temporarily stop selling tickets at My Son Relics from March 16.

Earlier, the People’s Committee of Hoi An city​suspended tours to ancient and pedestrian streets.

From 7:00 AM of March 18, the decision of the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee on suspension of tourism activities will take effect in the locality.
