Momentum in Vietnam-Turkey defense cooperation

During the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang and Mr. Musa Heybet agreed that bilateral defense cooperation is one of the key areas of collaboration in the overall relationship between the two countries. They expressed their delight that the Ministries of Defense of both countries have established permanent Defense Attaché Offices in each country in 2025, and highly appreciated the results of bilateral defense cooperation in recent times.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang proposed that both sides enhance cooperation in areas such as delegation exchanges, training, search and rescue, post-war bomb and mine clearance, defense industry, United Nations peacekeeping, cooperation between military branches, cybersecurity, and addressing non-traditional challenges.
Vietnam is ready to welcome Turkish officers to study Vietnamese and participate in the International Defense Officials course in Vietnam. He suggested that both sides continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations and within the ASEAN framework.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang cordially invited the Deputy Minister, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, and Turkish defense enterprises to attend and exhibit products at the third Vietnam International Defense Exhibition, scheduled to take place from December 10-13 in Hanoi.
Expressing gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang for the invitation, Mr. Musa Heybet stated that the Turkish Ministry of National Defense will send a delegation to attend and enterprises to exhibit at the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2026. He also expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation, including promoting delegation exchanges at all levels, human resource training, defense industry, and cooperation between military branches. Regarding defense industry cooperation, Turkey is ready to collaborate with Vietnam in accordance with the needs and capabilities of each side.
