This meaningful project, sponsored by Ben Tre Province, Vietnam, symbolizes the enduring friendship and special bond between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

The inauguration was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long; Cuban Minister of Education Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto; First Secretary of the Artemisa Provincial Party Committee Gladys Martínez Verdecia; Artemisa Governor Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez, along with other leaders from Artemisa Province and Bauta District, and a large number of local officials, teachers, students, and residents.

During the ceremony, delegates reminisced about the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, nurtured by generations of leaders and citizens of both countries, especially President Ho Chí Minh and President Fidel Castro.

The speech emphasized: “Cuba and Vietnam are a prime example of the strong friendship between two nations.” President Fidel's praise for the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people was once again recalled, evoking pride and a sense of connection.

The event was particularly meaningful as it coincided with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Artemisa Province (January 9, 2011–January 9, 2026) and as the entire Cuban Party and people prepare to celebrate the 100th birthday of President Fidel Castro.

Artemisa Province leaders shared that Ben Tre Village is proposing to the authorities to officially name the school after Heroine Nguyen Thi Dinh, a close friend of the Cuban people.

Following the formal ceremony with the flag salute, speeches, and special cultural performances by students celebrating the friendship between the two countries, Ambassador Le Quang Long and the Cuban Minister of Education cut the ribbon, officially putting the modern, spacious school into operation.

The Tarará Martyrs Primary School is not only a valuable material gift, a testament to the solidarity and cooperation from the Party, government, and people of both nations, but also a vibrant symbol of the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship.

The project makes a practical contribution to the education and training of Cuba's younger generation, while fostering friendship and connection between the two peoples for future generations.

On this occasion, delegates and the Cuban people also expressed deep gratitude and extended congratulations to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam on the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The event concluded with the resonating sounds of solidarity, friendship, and heartfelt “Thank you, Vietnam” messages, leaving a beautiful mark in the history of bilateral relations.

On December 20, 1969, a village named "Ben Tre Village" was established in Artemisa Province (Cuba) as part of a widespread movement in Cuba to express solidarity, support, and encouragement for the people of Southern Vietnam in general, and the people of Bến Tre in particular, in their struggle against invaders and their collaborators.

Ben Tre Village features a replica of President Ho Chi Minh's stilt house, symbolizing the solidarity between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba. Annually, Bến Tre Village commemorates major Vietnamese holidays and the Bến Tre Uprising Day (January 17, 1960).
