Inauguration of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland

WVR - On the afternoon of March 26 in Dublin, the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland held a solemn inauguration ceremony, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam-Ireland relations.

Attending the ceremony on the Vietnamese side were Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ireland Phạm Toan Thang, and Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Ireland Patrick McKillen.

On the Irish side, the event was graced by the presence of Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Mr. Neale Richmond; Director General of the Economic and Global Ireland Division, Mr. Colm Hayes; Director of the Asia-Pacific Division, Ms. Iseult Fitzgerald; Member of Parliament Ann Graves, in charge of the Ireland-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, along with MP Barry Ward, Chair of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Irish House of Representatives.

The ceremony also saw the participation of representatives from various Irish ministries, sectors, and Parliament, foreign missions, major partners and businesses, friends of Vietnam in Ireland, as well as the Vietnamese community in Ireland.

In her speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that the inauguration of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland is a significant milestone, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1996 - 2026). This event opens a new chapter in Vietnam-Ireland relations and reaffirms Vietnam's strong commitment to fostering comprehensive cooperation with Ireland, spanning politics, trade, education, science and technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

The establishment of the Embassy also demonstrates the attention of the Vietnamese Party and State to the large Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Ireland, fulfilling a commitment made during the State visit by General Secretary and President To Lam in October 2024.

On behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, Minister of State Neale Richmond extended congratulations to the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland, expressing delight at the robust development of bilateral relations in recent times, vividly exemplified by the inauguration of the Vietnamese Embassy in Dublin. The Minister of State emphasized that the Embassy's inauguration following the State visit by General Secretary and President To Lam in 2024 is a clear testament to the increasingly close relationship and the shared commitment of Vietnam and Ireland to promote bilateral cooperation, especially in trade and investment, finance, agriculture, science and technology, economy, tourism, and higher education...

At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ireland Pham Toan Thang highlighted that the inauguration of Vietnam's first Embassy in Ireland heralds new cooperation prospects between the two countries. From here, the Embassy will continue to expand diplomatic activities, support business and educational cooperation, and serve the Vietnamese community in Ireland more effectively and practically.

A large number of representatives from the Vietnamese community in Ireland, including the Vietnamese Association, the Vietnamese Intellectuals Association in the UK and Ireland, and the Student Association, attended and expressed their joy at the establishment of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland.

On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Toan Thang also extended his gratitude to the Irish Government, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, relevant agencies, partners, friends, and the Vietnamese community for their trust and support throughout the preparation process for establishing the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland.
