Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 displays lotus still-life painting namely 'Lotus Serene Pure Land'
Hanoi Lotus Festival aims to promote and honor the beauty and cultural values of Hanoi, highlighting the unique value of the lotus tea marinating career and the unique characteristics of lotus culture in Vietnamese people’s lives, Hanoi people in particular and Vietnamese people in general.

On the evening of July 12, at Tay Ho Creative Cultural Space (Hanoi), Tay Ho District People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Union of Friendship Organizations, Hanoimoi Newspaper, Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Information and Communications of Hanoi to organize the Hanoi Lotus Festival and introduce OCOP products associated with the culture of the Northern mountainous provinces in 2024.
Hanoi Lotus Festival aims to promote and honor the beauty and cultural values of Hanoi, highlighting the unique value of the lotus tea marinating career and the unique characteristics of lotus culture in Vietnamese people’s lives, Hanoi people in particular and Vietnamese people in general.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity to promote and stimulate tourism demand, arousing the potential of local OCOP products; to attract tourists to Hanoi and the West Lake (Tay Ho), contributing to local economic and tourism development.
Representing the creativity, lotus products are displayed enormously at the event such as lotus flowers, lotus fiber yarn, lotus tea, lotus sticky rice, lotus flavored sausage... The highlight of the event was thousands of lotus flowers – representing a number of lotus varieties from regions throughout the country, including precious lotus varieties of Hanoi and Vietnam.
Colorful lotus flowers are not only displayed in the event decoration area but are also shown intermittently in OCOP booths, next to the famous West Lake lotus pond that is currently in bloom, creating a truly impressive space.
The area for tasting the lotus products covers the paintings, photos, lacquer, fabrics, and poems about lotus from past to present which attracts visitors ‘attention. Along with the outstanding and unique appearance of lotus flowers filling up the festival space, the event also introduced more than 100 standard booths displaying OCOP products, which are specialties of the Northern regions with various products, abundant diversity, promising to be an interesting shopping destination for tourists.

Within the framework of the festival, many activities take place such as: Workshop on Conservation and Development of Vietnamese Lotus; Inauguration ceremony of OCOP product introduction and sales center in Tay Ho district – Trinh Musician Street; Opening of the Lotus Arrangement Art Space Exhibition; Exhibition of lotus photos in Vietnamese life; Survey - Conference Program "Upgrading the service quality and connecting tourist destinations of Tay Ho district with travel businesses in Hanoi city in 2024"; Music night of Trinh Cong Son musician and friends; Cycling Festival Green Tour namely “West Lake Lotus Beauty” with 7,000 cyclists touring around the West Lake.
In particular, the painting “Lotus Serene Pure Land” by artist Nguyen Thi Kim Duc was displayed by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at the 9th National Buddhist Congress (2022), and was also displayed at the Hanoi Lotus Festival.
Artist Kim Duc said that she believed and wished to make a small contribution and share her joy with lotus lovers when Hanoi organized this unique festival for the first time. The “Lotus Serene Pure Land” painting has won the attention and love of numerous viewers through the 2023 Vietnamese Lotus Exhibition held at Quan Su Pagoda, Hanoi.
The painting was also sanctified by Vietnamese monks such as Venerable Upadhyaya Thich Tri Quang - His Holiness the Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (Buddhist Sangha); Venerable Upadhyaya Thich Thien Nhon - Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and other leaders of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
His Holiness the 12th Dharma Prelate Gyalwang Drukpa, and Myanmar Supreme Patriarch Sayadaw Sandimar Bhivamsa, while in Vietnam for a visit, also spent their time on admiring and blessing the “Lotus Serene Pure Land”.
The festival lasts until July 16.
