General Secretary To Lam meets Embassy staff and Vietnamese community in the United Kingdom

WVR - On the evening of October 28 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and his spouse had a cordial meeting and conversation with the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, Ambassador Do Minh Hung reported to General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and the high-level delegation on the activities of the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK and the situation of the Vietnamese community there. The Ambassador shared that the Vietnamese community in the UK always abides by local laws and remains connected to their homeland.

Honoured to meet General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and the high-level delegation in the UK, the overseas Vietnamese shared their sentiments and “suggestions” for the development of their homeland.

The General Secretary extended his best wishes to the entire Vietnamese community in the UK and their families. He noted that this official visit to the United Kingdom takes place amid very positive developments in Vietnam–UK relations. The advancements in bilateral relations have facilitated deeper integration and more robust development for the Vietnamese community in the UK.

The General Secretary stated that in all discussions, he consistently urged the UK side to continue supporting the Vietnamese community to live, study, and work stably, integrating positively into local society to contribute to the development of the UK and the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

After briefing the community on the country's socio-economic situation in recent times, the General Secretary congratulated the Vietnamese community in the UK on their achievements, including diverse activities to honour and preserve Vietnamese culture and language, thereby enhancing cooperative and friendly relations between the two countries.

The head of the Communist Party of Vietnam emphasized that the Party and State always care for the overseas Vietnamese community, particularly in the UK, thereby creating conditions for them to contribute more to the country.

The General Secretary expressed confidence that, with their patriotic tradition, self-reliance, intelligence, and Vietnamese spirit, the overseas Vietnamese community, especially in the UK, will continue to unite with the Party, State, and people at home to overcome all challenges, turning aspirations into actions and potential into real strength, to usher the country into a new era of development. He particularly hopes that the Vietnamese community in the UK will always serve as ambassadors of connection and cooperation between the Vietnamese and British peoples.
